Licensed or Unlicensed
A licensed contractor is not a guarantee
that the project will be completed satisfactorily or that
you are paying for expertise. There are those that
say hiring an unlicensed contractor can be okay if you
know what your are doing and they also understand the job.
However, by following the advice of many lawyers, if you
hire a licensed, bonded and insured contractor you gain
some leverage. Licensed contractors have standards
they must meet in order to retain their license and they
will try to right their wrongs to avoid losing that license. An
insured contractor covers workers who may have an accident
on your property, which will save you from having to file
a claim against your home owners insurance.
