Better Business Bureau for Contractor Complaints

The Better Business Bureau is a local agency whose purpose is to act a neutral intermediary between consumers and businesses to foster communication and settle disputes. 
If the contractor you are considering is a member of the bureau you can get a copy of their report.  This report will include the number of complaints if any the contractor has received within a time period of usually 3 years.
